but that's the point:

for a given group of racers with similar abilities, lighter bicycles
designed for racing offer the advantages needed to go faster, and
thus, win a race.  not finish a race, or keep up with the peloton -
but win.  that's the object of a race.

seriously - if, all "engines" being relatively equal, you think a 25
lbs steel rig can keep up with something like a Pinarello Prince in a
bicycle race - well, you are absolutely entitled to you opinion.

believe me, i'd love it if my steel country bike was as fast as my ti
racer, but it's simply not the case.  it's not even close.
