I believe it's an automotive double-face trim tape of some kind. Very strong stuff. And don't worry about some dentist coming along and ripping off your badge, it took some real effort to work the floss up and down the badge, but then again I don't flos every day. Good news is that I'll likely never get a cavity behind the new badge now, and I won't get yelled at when I take it in for a check up.
