Dustin: I'm pretty sure that's the hill we went down on a tour a few years back. I recall Ranchita & an incredibly long downhill to Borrego.
I'm with you for that one as long as you give a couple of weeks notice. Time it right & wildflowers will be in bloom in the desert - usually April / May, after rain & before heat. dougP -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Dustin Sharp Sent: Monday, January 05, 2009 11:15 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [RBW] Re: Sunday 1/4/09 Rivendellian ride! Speaking of hills, this is the ride I am determined to do a weekend day very soon: http://www.lkjh.biz/bike/california/san_diego/anza_borrego/ The loop is 55 miles total, and starts with the "glass elevator," the longest sustained highway grade in San Diego county. After paying your dues, the final 40 miles or so are mostly downhill. I've only driven it in a car, but there are some pretty spectacular views. Might be a fun group ride if anyone feels like a day in the high-mountain desert.
