...well, a lot of things. But, I just wanted to note one thing - it's not specifically RBW related, but it relates to the spirit of the season in the best sense.
Steve Rex, who is a noted builder up in the Davis area encountered some bad luck recently, hitting the ground a few weeks ago, with the result a broken hip, femur and elbow. Not good for someone who's livlihood depends upon himself. Then his daughter got burned on both arms, one more than the other, compounding things. Word went out via email lists and newspapers, a fundraising raffle manifested, with Steve donating a to-be-built bike - valued at $2,500. They were hoping to clear Steve's cost and donate anything extra to help him out. Over this past weekend, the results were tallied and the result was over $29 thousand - yep, _thousand_ in donations. When I read that late last night in the follow-up email, it was pretty overwhelming. It says much for the strength of character among the cyclists, some of whom are part of this list, but all of whom chose to do a kind thing this holiday season. We may disagree and love to quibble on small things, but from time to time, it's just inspiring to see that we can act so decisively to help another. Act in the spirit, however you may interpret that. Make it all a little nicer, a little better, a touch easier for someone when you can. The days begin to get longer tomorrow, and this winter shall pass. all the best to all! - Jim -- Jim Edgar [email protected] --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
