And after a year of using a 7-speed hub connected to a wheel with 135 
mm spacing, I love it. It's a great way to go if you are just setting 
up a bike. If you're lucky (and like indexing), you can have it with 
some 7-speed bar-enders. (Oh, caveat, I love bar-cons. I realize many 
of you don't.)

Back to the wheel, I use the big-ring/second biggest cog combo very 
often now, and the addition of that gear is a big reason I like the 
set-up so much.
