Sorry, this is an old picture. In 2007, the President and his wife
*traded in* or upgraded to a Specialized Globe:
"When Atlanta's Outback Bikes was approached earlier this week to fix
up a set of old bikes for former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and his
wife, the shop responded with a shiny new pair of men's and women's
Globe Elite IG8s."

I wonder what trash heap those "old bikes" are sitting in...

I sez

Oh yeah, they just sent those rivs off to recycling as they are worthless
POS bikes.
This list needs to calm down and breathe sometimes. This thread came up in
the past when I pointed out the brain article to the list tongue and cheek
like. People flew off the handle and got angry and sent mean letters to the
shop who did this. The shop owner Pete from Outback bikes wrote back saying
in part:

have dealt with the Carter Center since 2004 with some bikes for Amy
Carterand her son. When the President needed some work done on a
couple of old

and I think privately to me after I apologized not realizing people would
think any shop ACTUALLY would trash some rivs in exchange for bikes worth a
third of their value:

No worries, I was told he also has so old cruisers he uses in Plains GA. The

So there you go to set the record straight. Pete from Outback bikes seems
like a stand up guy to me. So don't go off sending mean letters to him again
because you think he threw out those old crappy rivs and replaced them with
some Globes.
