Hi all, In the midst of my Rambouillet build: http://myrambouilletbuild.blogspot.com/
I was installing my new SRAM 9 speed chain, and miscalculated the length...so my chain ended up a few links too short. I managed to get the old pin pushed back in, broke the chain to the right length and continued installation. Zinn's road bike maintenance manual does not recommend re-using chain pins...especially with 9 or 10 speed chains or with any Shimano or Campy chain. I believe you can fix a Shimano chain if you buy the special snap-off chain pins, but I'm not sure about SRAM. I'm a little leary about riding this chain and believe I should bite the bullet, chalk this one up to experience, and buy a new chain. What's the group experience with re-using chain components? Check out my blog, and my progress! Thanks! -Dwight --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
