I don't think a hub or a rim should fail like that.  I mean, we didn't see
the pothole, but he doesn't go on and on about how absolutely huge it
was...  I've always thought of wheels as being the strongest part of the
bike.  Have seen plenty (well, a handful) of pics showing bent forks,
tweaked down/top tubs after an impact.  That's normal.  The wheel in those
instances always came out fine...
