The way how I did this is how it is done in other places such as
https://github.com/openstreetmap/openstreetmap-website/blob/2f01fd9596677fd750fbe34eaf07e47269a28f39/app/assets/javascripts/index/contextmenu.js#L104
If you can point me to how you want this done, I can do it.
Currently, this follows the established best pracitce.
