Of course one problem of tackling this by starting with this one use case is
that it doesn't actually help prove that maplibre is actually capable of doing
everything we need for the main map - what if we start down this path and then
get stuck later on?
I only ask because I know when I was trying to move my own map site to maplibre
that I found it was generally lacking in features compared to leaflet and I
eventually put the conversion on hold.
