map-per created an issue (openstreetmap/openstreetmap-website#6006)
Working on the [website](https://www.comaps.app/) for
[CoMaps](https://codeberg.org/comaps), I once again realized that OSM has no
good place to send people who don't know OSM to. (So we are linking to our own
FAQ instead of directly to OSM for now)
IMO there should be a page that informs people about OSM and invites them to
contribute. This page should have a stronger focus on inviting/engaging people
than https://www.openstreetmap.org/about or
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/About_OpenStreetMap.
The structure could look somewhat like this:
- What is OSM?
- Wikipedia like, crowd sourced approach
- free and open data
- Some examples of maps that use our data
- How can I contirbute?
- Invite people to crate an account
- Suggest doing the iD tutorial
