The first quote for that definition comes from [this 
paper](https://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007/978-3-642-54212-1_1), and this 
is the first paragraph of its abstract

> [...]

The first quote used to "prove" that "followings" can be used in this way is 
from a paper written by people who are clearly not native English speakers.

I don't want to argue about this further, if you don't believe me, don't 
believe me.
