Hello Hugh and Nico, I have confirmed other problems with AuthenticateUser on ActivePerl 5.8 on 2000 server.
I recommend you downgrade to ActivePerl 5.6.1 (which is still available on the ActivePerl doenloads page). I have also added something to the Radiator FAQ for future reference.
