Yes, I'm greedy. My case is looking at various daily manipulations of stock data back to the sixties. A typical textual dump will have date, price, a manipulated series and usually a column indicating model positions or weights. While a terminal on Linux or OSX will dump it out in < 1 second, it's tens of seconds inside the GUI. I'm off now to try the str/snip business that Robby mentioned in the next message.
