[had been meaning to reply to this, but other stuff got queued up] One thing that we strongly encourage at the Hackathon is that people program in pairs, so that one person is piloting at the keyboard and one person co-pilots next to them. I think that would be especially beneficial for your son, and also whoever pairs with him (as a teaching opportunity).
