I have just installed 5.3.4 on Windows 8. But, of course, since it uses the "Start" Page and tiles, there isn't an issue with choosing a Start Button. I got tiles for DrRacket, GRacket, Racket and Docs. (Which is nothing compared to the 100 or so tiles I got from Cygwin!)
