Dear all,

We are excited to announce our upcoming online course: GLLVMs: Advanced
Multivariate Analysis of Ecological Communities in R

Dates: 20–23 May 2025

Course website: [ https://www.physalia-courses.org/courses-workshops/gllvm/ ](
https://www.physalia-courses.org/courses-workshops/gllvm/ )

This course introduces Generalized Linear Latent Variable Models (GLLVMs), a
unifying framework for advanced multivariate analysis of ecological
communities. GLLVMs combine the flexibility of Generalized Linear Models with
the benefits of ordination, enabling robust species association analysis, model
diagnostics, and more.

Who Should Attend?

The course is designed for PhD candidates, postdocs, and researchers with basic
statistical knowledge and experience with R. If you work with multivariate
ecological data and want to learn statistically sound methods to analyze it,
this course is for you!

What You’ll Learn:

Fitting GLLVMs with the gllvm R-package, choosing the appropriate
distribution for data.
Formulating an appropriate GLLVM to answer a research question.
Finding a "good" GLLVMs based on residual diagnostics and other criteria
covered in the course.
Visualizing and interpreting results from a fitted GLLVM.
The ability to effectively communicate the results.

Best regards,
Carlo
