Sounds as though something in the package says it depends on itself. Possibilities off the top of my head:

You have Depends: rmpiFort or Imports: rmpiFort (or even Suggests: rmpiFort, or LinkingTo: rmpiFort) in your DESCRIPTION file.

You have importFrom(rmpiFort, ...) or import(rmpiFort) in your NAMESPACE file.

You have requireNamespace("rmpiFort") (or require("rmpiFort"), or library("rmpiFort")) in your R source.
