Hi all, I think I'm cracking up. Please help me understand why I'm getting different results with m.test and m.test2 in the example below.
> library(reshape) Loading required package: plyr > > m.test <- data.frame(id = factor(rep(1:10, 2)), > variable=rep(c("var1","var2"),10), value=rnorm(20)) > cast(m.test, ...~variable, value="value") ## cast is aggregating even though > I have ... in the formula. Aggregation requires fun.aggregate: length used as default id var1 var2 1 1 2 0 2 2 0 2 3 3 2 0 4 4 0 2 5 5 2 0 6 6 0 2 7 7 2 0 8 8 0 2 9 9 2 0 10 10 0 2 > > test2 <- data.frame(id=factor(1:10), var1=rnorm(10), var2=rnorm(1)) > m.test2 <- melt(test2, id="id") > cast(m.test2, ...~variable, value="value") ## this is the result I want.
