The grouped boxplot is one of the features included in the HH package. An example is posted on my site http://astro.ocis.temple.edu/~rmh/HH/bwplot-color.pdf
Reconstructing Figure 3 in your file GroupedBoxplot.pdf from your 11/24/2009 10:35 AM email would be easy.
