If you are using the windows version, installing packages can be done easily from the prompt in the R work space by the following statement:
install.packages("name_of_package", dep=TRUE) the part of dep=TRUE is to allow associated dependencies of packages tp be installed along side. This saves you the task of installing each dependency package seperately. Enjoy! I want to install some of the user packages but it's not clear from the documentation how to specify the directory in which to place them. I need some help with this problem-how do I direct the install to the proper place? Should I set up a directory under my R directory (my preference) or elsewhere? Should I place all downloaded packages into the same directory or specify separate directories for each package? And will I need to specify some environment variable when using the package? > Date: Tue, 11 Nov 2008 14:41:57 +0100 > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > CC: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; r-help@r-project.org > Subject: Re: [R] read SAS file > > b g wrote: >> Figured out the problem reading the file. Csv files must be ftp'd as ascii and xpt files as binary. However, both strategies result in the first few columns being omitted. I'd like to check which variables are on the file, much like proc contents in SAS, but I can't find the command to do this in the documentation.
