From what I have read it seems to be X11/X.org, so should affect most Linux users *who are trying to use fancy OpenGL stuff on their desktops* -- perhaps the reason we keep here from Ubuntu'ers is that compiz is on by default in newer releases? I'd be happy to be set straight by anyone using rgl successfully on other Linux distributions simultaneously with OpenGL desktops ...
