You need to search a bit harder. At least give 60 minutes yourself. Check date of resultant pages hence be sure that you don’t follow an outdated instruction. Hence, you can learn how to search in time.
Please, read; https://support.rstudio.com/hc/en-us/articles/200486138-Using-Different-Versions-of-R I strictly suggest you install R from Ubuntu repo. Do not try to compile/install to another custom location unless if you have very good reason.
