No luck here either, even with the correct spelling.

$ ping tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au
PING tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au (134.148.236.121) 56(84) bytes of data.

--- tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au ping statistics ---
14 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 13002ms

$ ping tolstoi.newcastle.edu.au
ping: unknown host tolstoi.newcastle.edu.au

Seems to be a problem with that machine. The site itself is fine:

$ ping newcastle.edu.au
PING newcastle.edu.au (134.148.4.164) 56(84) bytes of data.

64 bytes from www.newcastle.edu.au (134.148.4.164): icmp_seq=6 ttl=240

--- newcastle.edu.au ping statistics ---

rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 78.968/98.247/154.790/28.355 ms

Doesn't help to explain much, but at least you know it's not only you.
