I wasn't at my normal computer yesterday, so I didn't run the example. I
thought "rgl" was one of those color palette generator packages. So, my
suggestion of using animation was completely off base (oops).

But I did notice two other things:
1) your color column changes from a factor to a character when you redefine
it (assuming you have not changed the default option stringsAsFactors=TRUE).

In your original data frame you may want to set stringsAsFactors=FALSE, or
plot using the factor level names:
plot3d(clusset[ ,(1:3)], xlim=c(0,25), ylim=c(0,25), zlim=c(0,25),
xlab='',ylab='',zlab='',
    col=levels(clusset$dotcol)[clusset$dotcol], radius=1, type='s')
see str(clusset$dotcol) before and after you redefine your data frame

2) Also you're plotting the whole data frame, including your color column.
So, you may want to use something like the above to keep just the first
three columns.
