Hi, In a few days ago, I have had the same error on my Debian Testing. After a lot of spent time, I found that Debian's developers already have has compiled the Gtk2 on a deb package (http://packages.debian.org/squeeze/r-cran-rgtk2). So, I did: apt-get update&&apt-get install r-cran-rgtk2 For Ubuntu, there is a same package (https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/lucid/+package/r-cran-rgtk2) that could be installed in the same way.
