This is fairly simple using lattice graphics: USJudgeRatings <- USJudgeRatings[,1:4] USJudgeRatings$group <- factor(c(rep(1, 22), rep(0, 21)))
library(lattice) splom( ~USJudgeRatings[,1:4], groups=group, data=USJudgeRatings, type=c('p','smooth')) The ggplot2 package probably makes this easy as well (but I am still learning that). If you really need to use the pairs function then you will need to create your own panel function (which could call panel.smooth). -- Gregory (Greg) L.
