Your terminology is confusing. Normally, when one says that a message has been "accepted" in an SMTP connection, one means that the server has accepted responsibility for further delivery. It does this by sending a 250 reply to the terminating "." of the message. That clearly comes after receiving the message, and since a message can be rejected due to content (size, virus, spamassassin, ...), it can still reject the mail after receiving it. hp -- _ | Peter J.
