We are running into an intermittent problem on our mail servers here where qmail becomes very slow, or stops accepting connections all together. The errors in the logs are as follows: in the maillog -> tcpserver: warning: dropping connection, unable to fork: temporary failure in the syslog -> out of per-user processes for uid 201 (where 201 is a qmail uid) We have noticed that while the problem is occurring , there are hundreds of qmail-queue processes. They don't appear to be writing to the queue as there are no files in queue/mess for these processes. Has anyone run into a problem like this or know why we see hundred of qmail-queue processes (which seem to be hung or waiting). Thanks. Dan
