qmail with mysql patch - solaris

i am trying to set up qmail under following conditions

OS       : solaris8 (SUN OS 5.8)
Hardware : e3500
Compiler : gcc-2.95.2
MySQL Patches :
- qmail-mysql-1.2.1-lain.patch (OR)
- qmail-mysql-0.6.6.patch

however, when i run qmail-getpw after compiling, i get this error message:

Segmentation Fault (Memory Dump)
