It was a virtual domain. The following letter was my solution (of course,
I had to change the path names to protect the innocent).

look in the domain in question, find the .qmail-default it will read
someting like
| /var/qmail/vpopmail/bin/vdelivermail ''
/var/qmail/vpopmail/domain/domainnameinquestion/postmaster

change it to this line.
| /var/qmail/vpopmail/bin/vdelivermail '' bounce-no-mailbox

I have a small problem. Qmail has been up and running for several months
and seems to be working fine except for one thing: Any mail that should be
bouncing (i.e., "unknown user") is being sent to the postmaster account. I
know there is something simple I have overlooked (as this is almost always
the case with Qmail - everything is so simple once you know where to look
for it). Anyway, if someone could please respond off-list I would
appreciate it.

Eric
