Hi,

How can I add a header X-Deliver-To that has final destination of the
email. The reason I need to do this is because the To or CC header is not
enough information for a program to deliver the mail correctly.

The domain in question I need to do this with is a "Virtual Domain" setup
in qmail. To some extent this already exists in the header Delivered-To,
the only problem is it looks like the following:

  Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

If you can remove the virtual username and dash and put this into the
X-Deliver-To header this would slove the problem in a stroke.

Thanks,
Chris

We've done that with the development version of vpopmail 3.4.12.
Instead of a header that has: virtualdomain-user@virtualdomain
It puts user@virtualdomain

Hi,
Is it posible to inject a message, but that the qmail does not try to
send it until within two days, for example?

Thanks,
Eduardo

Thanks for all your help. It all seemed to be working.
But for some reason if you generate email from the machine it gets sent. But
any email that come from another machine just seems to vanish. How can I
trace the email from the time it get recived till the time it should have
been sent out to the internet.

Could you or someone on the list send me in the rite direction for the info
or give me some help. Thanks.

Sorry to be a novice at MTA's but just begining at MTA's I can do most other

Hi there

I have a situation with my new (qmail & ldap) and old (post.office)
systems. The old system holds the bulk of the mailboxes. I need some
suggestions for the following :

1) I need to be able to hand (proxy?) connections to the post.office
system if a lookup in the ldap/qmail system returns that the mailbox is
not local to that box. The proviso for this is that the envelope must
remain unmodified.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

After trying to setup coda on two computers in order to create a replicated
directory,
I am on the way to give up ... The documentation isn't the best I ever see.

Does anyone already succeed to create a replicated "user partition" to
remove the
"mail server" single point of failure .

In case of so already succeed what I am trying to do any advise will be
welcome

Hi,

I can't seem to get courier-imap to compile using vchkpw as the
authentication method.

What I am doing is (as it doesn't seem to detect vchkpw is installed)
specifying --with-authvchkpw, but it doesn't even compile the vchkpw
module.

Can someone tell me how to configure vchkpw as the authentication module
for courier-imap either via options passed to configure, or by forcing
courier-imap to see that vchkpw is installed.

Cheers,

Del.

I had a similar problem a couple of days ago. It seems that my compiler
(gcc 2.95.2) doesn't like the way courier-imap is including vchkpw
headers. I'm not even sure if vpopmail_config's use of '#include
"~vpopmail/include/config.h"' is valid C at all. The attached patch
makes vpopmail_config.h a generated file using the vpopmail homedir as
detected in configure. After you apply the patch, you'll need to run
automake in the topsrcdir & autoconf in authlib.

Your system is apparently configured not to allow setuid programs from
the filesystem upon which /var/qmail/bin resides.

This worked a few days ago but for some reason stopped. When I send nothing
happens in the logs and mail doesn't go out. I can receive and use fetchmail.
Typing mailq yeilds all the messages I've tried to send. This is an example:

20m 443 12YWFG-0002IS-00 <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> *** frozen ***
          [EMAIL PROTECTED]

If anyone knows why I'm not getting errors and the queue isn't sending please
let me know. Thanks!

This doesn't look like qmail output to me. What makes you think it is qmail?

You can also try omail, which don't require vpopmail to work,
and works nicely with vmailmgr. http://webmail.omnis.ch ,
and then click on the About button.

I'm using qmail / vpopmail both latest versions.

I've set up my users/assign file to look like this.

+bbb.com-:bbb.com:1007:7004:/export/home/vpopmail/domains/bbb.com:-::
+aaa.com-:aaa.com:1007:7004:/export/home/vpopmail/domains/bbb.com:-::
.

Basically I want all mail coming in addressed to aaa.com to go to the
bbb.com domain
aaa.com has an MX record pointing to bbb.com

The way I read the man page relating to the assign file was anything
coming in to aaa.com will be delivered to wherever I tell it the mailbox
is in the assign file.

when I send to [EMAIL PROTECTED] it should go to
/export/home/vpopmail/domains/bbb.com where brad's home mail directory
exists, but the error message is error:
Sorry,_no_mailbox_here_by_that_name._(#5.1.1)/

and yes I did run qmail-newu after editing the assign file.

Any thoughts?

Hi,
I have just moved to qmail on a system working with zmailer plus listar
(www.listar.org) for managing mailing-lists.
I have installed fastforward, created /etc/aliases etc. and still have
several problems:
when I write to listar@mydomain the alias reads
listar: "|/home/listar/listar"
but mail is delivered to the Mailbox of the listar account

when i write to mylist@mydomain I get an error message in qmail log like
delivery 1: deferral: sh:_/home/listar/listar:Permission_denied/

I went into the doc of listar, which says "make sure that listar is a
trusted user of sendmail", but since I am a newbie I can't translate this
to qmail...
I guess I have some permissions wrong on listar?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Gennaro Zezza

PS I tried to use .qmail-listname in /var/qmail/alias but that doesn't
change anything

Some good news on the spam front, assuming any of this is enforceable...

The House Commerce Subcommittee on Telecommunications, Trade and Consumer
Protection passed a bill today requiring spam to be identified as such and
allowing individuals to sue spammers, according to a statement.

Hello,
I changed the MX records for buz.ch on Thursday
from
mail.buz.ch. IN A 209.15.28.27
mail.buz.ch. IN MX 10 mail.buz.ch.

to

mail.buz.ch. IN A 195.49.62.125
mail.buz.ch. IN MX 10 mail.buz.ch.

Bind accepted the changes and all DNS servers outside our own network I
queried about mail.buz.ch are showing up the new IP, eg:

E:\>nslookup mail.buz.ch ns1.sunrise.ch
Server: ns1.sunrise.ch
Address: 193.192.227.3

Nicht-autorisierte Antwort:
Name: mail.buz.ch
Address: 195.49.62.125

but mails are still handled by the old mailserver. If I use the new one as
SMTP server directly, the mails are delivered locally (using qmail and
vpopmail). Has anyone got an idea what's going on here?

TIA,
Gabriel

How long ago did you make the change, and what were the TTLs on the records
before you made the change? It's possible that some outside DNS caches still
have the old records cached.

Search the mail archives on how to do this by using a skeleton, should help

For Slackware you can do this as root:

        cd /etc/skel
        /var/qmail/bin/maildirmake Maildir

I believe this work for other distributions too. Give it a try.

Is there an easy way to have qmail either not do the crlf -> lf translation
on files it delivers locally, or is there any easy way to undo this? We have
IMAP clients accessing these files directly off the unix box, and they miss
