There are no "differences" : the the two programs are
working together : vmailmgrd is a replacement for checkpassword, and
also use qmail-pop3d.
If you have specific vmailmgr questions, there is also a mailing
list (look on http://www.em.ca/~bruceg/vmailmgr/ )

* with qmail-pop3d and checkpassword, you have one pop-mail account
per unix user.
* with qmail-pop3d and vmailmgrd, you need only one unix account
per domain (so many pop accounts as you need)
* and with vpopmail, you only need one unix account for all your pop-mail
accounts.
