QMQP sends the message once with all target addresses. QMTP has the
same provisions, but of course it depends on the implementation of the
client.
To use qmail-qmqpc/d over a dialup line, you may have to change the
timeouts (probably mainly timeoutconnect). Especially the qmpcd write
timeout is too short and will over a poor connection lead to
duplications (d times out on writing status to c but uses the message;
c doesn't get status info and resends the message).
If the dialing-up MTA is low use, you could also use sendmail here.
Postfix is another alternative which should deal with high volume much
better than sendmail.
It would be great to have a qmail-qmtpc that replaces qmail-send of a
normal installation, or even better, a qmail-send that uses qmail-local
for local deliveries, but a qmail-qmtpc for remote (one per message;
not one per recipient). Keeping fingers crossed for qmail-2.0 ;-)
