"Anything to do with qmail" is a subjective term, and as recent discussions
have made clear it can be extended to cover just about anything. Sometimes
people ask questions that simply can't be answered without going off on
some weird tangent that really has nothing to do with qmail, MTAs, or even
general system administration. At that point, someone else steps in and
says "Sorry, we can't really answer that here, you'll have to either ask
someone else or go figure it out yourself." I don't see anything wrong
with that. If you want to use the help available from this list you'll
have to take the vinegar with the honey.

DJB set up the list in the first place, so I'd say whatever he says the
scope of the list is, it is. Given that he doesn't post too much though,
and that the list is unmoderated, I'd extend that to say that the people
who post here most often and know the most about qmail are the ones in the
position to determine the scope of the list. As best I can tell, they all
want to keep the scope of the list narrow. Again, nothing wrong with that.
There are a zillion mailing lists out there that all have a narrow scope.
That's so you can find the information you want when you need it rather
than having to sift through a bunch of crap.

This reminds me of this guy I know on a chat network that I help run.
Every day he comes on with utterly rookie questions. He's at work trying
to get some task done and he comes onto chat crying that he can't figure
out how to do it.

For a while we put up with him and just answered the questions since they
were so easy, and we figured he was just a newbie and needed some help.
But lately it's become more often and more routine, as if we're only there
to help him solve his problems. Now we chide him first and ask him if he's
actually tried to solve the problem before asking for help.

Forgive me if I see you acting the same way, but too many people post to
this list without so much as raising an eyelid to look at their screen and
attempt even a cursory inspection of the documentation and resources
available online. The questions from and attitudes of those people back up
that assumption all too often.

You're going to moderate the [EMAIL PROTECTED] list yourself and repost it to
your own list? Shrug. What makes you think I want to see your moderations
of the list?

> 2: Have all qmail crypto mailings marked as such (If that can be done)

Sure it can. I'm not going to tell you how but I can tell you that I know
how.

So there's only one rule, that you're not allowed to enforce any rules?
Sounds like a blast. What happens if I break the rule? Do you get kicked
off the list too?
