IMHO, this is the only correct thing to do when there is no
authoritative info. Relying on rumors for e-mail delivery is bad.

I don't have "setenv", but I bet this is your problem (your line sets
RELAYCLIENT="yes") and you want e.g.:
setenv RELAYCLIENT=""

set, qmail-smtpd will ignore rcpthosts, and will
append the value of RELAYCLIENT to each incoming
recipient address.
Read the man page on the utility of this mechanism. It's also in the
qmail FAQ on how to deal with faulty SMTP clients.
