No, the aliasemtpy arument to qmail-start only specifies the default
delivery instructions--it has no effect on where qmail-local looks for
.qmail files.

Let's quit playing with examples. Give me a real user name and the
real entry in users/assign.
If messages are being delivered to ~user/.mail/Mailbox, then
qmail-local is not finding a suitable .qmail file in ~user/.qmail. If
there's one there with the vacation program invocation in it, then
something else is wrong. Do "ls -l ~user/.qmail" and "cat
~user/.qmail" and post the results.
