Qmail-Scanner can't "crash" clamd. Do you really mean clamd "crashed"?
As in - exited with an error? If so, you either have a broken install of
clamav, have discovered a bug in clamav, or have a hardware problem.

? Well that is weird. Qmail-Scanner is specifically designed to tempfail
if an AV returns a non-standard error code. Again - this smells like a
hardware problem - disk corruption springs to mind.
