Hi The log message didn't say that qmail-scanner (a very old version...) died, it said that the "parent process died", in other words 'qmail-smtpd' died. There could be some valid reasons to not accept a mail, but the people at M$ don't care about that. One of the possible reasons is "the bare line feeds issue" check <http://cr.yp.to/docs/smtplf.html>. This is from my logs this morning, I used a patched qmail-smtpd to log somethings thar worried me in the past: 29478 tcpserver: from 62.101.89.35 29478 tcpserver: ok 0:193.43.129.146:25 :62.101.89.35::4476 29478 smtpd: (st13a) mailfrom_ [EMAIL PROTECTED] _to_ [EMAIL PROTECTED] 29478 smtpd: Bare LFs in SMTP, rejecting (451) 29478 tcpserver: end status 256 29479 QS-2.02st: no sender and no recips, from via SMTP from 62.101.89.35 So you see, in this case qmail-scanner process is 29479 and its parent 29478, in your second example qs process was 22020 and its parent 22017 that had end with an status 256 (error), before the message from qmail-scanner. The logs have improved from version 1.25st... Regards ST ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges.
