It is valid.
All mailservers must accept <> sender by RFC1123.
However, just mail servers are sending emails from <> , error reports
for example.
It usualy say "MAILER-DAEMON <>"
Qmail-scanner has optional flag to ignore emails with <> sender.... but
i think it might be useful in per-domain settings.
