Hey there,
Sorry not sure if this has been suggested before or not. I use qmail-scanner, and am quite happy with it, however, occasionally the load on my server rockets...
Invariably this is because the virus scanner is doing it's thing, and before you know it, the server is overrun.
How about once the message has been accepted, it's put into a disk queue before scanning with ClamAV / Mcafee / whatever is kicked off? Then there could be a config option to limit the number of simultaneous scans? This would keep the load "low", and ensure that things don't get out of hand... Only side effect that I can think of is a minor delay, which is preferable to a server that's is hammered?
Thoughts?
Thanks,
TvT.
