Ok. I've read the faq and followed the directions to a tee, but I still can't get qmail-scanner and clamdscan to talk.
The problem is that the messages in /var/spool/qmailscan/tmp/ are being written as uid root and gid root with only perms for the root user to access. What should the file perms be on the files in tmp/? Is this a umask problem? Umask is 0022. System is gentoo, qmail/qmail-scanner installed as near to lwq as I can remember.
