Ok. Item number one resolved. DNS server wasn't working.
The big one is left. I need to get those 2500 msgs going.

Again, here is what I did (probably shoudn't have...):
1. qmailctl stat (showed 2500+ messages)
2. stopped qmail
3. mv /var/qmail/queue/remote /var/qmail/queue/remote-hold
4. started qmail
5. qmailctl stat showed no messages. did some testing. 5 more messages were listed, still queued.
6. stopped qmail
7. mv /var/qmail/queue/remote-hold /var/qmail/queue/remote
8. started qmail
9. qmailctl stat doesn't show me the 2500 messages ! but just the 5 messages...

When I do a "ls -R" in /var/qmail/queue/remote, I still see the tons of entries. How do I make qmail see them again?
thanks
Denis

Hi,
I have 2500+ messages in the queue of my mail relay system. Stopped delivering 2 days ago.
I'm taking over support of this box from someone who left. Not too familiar with qmail yet.

Two questions:
1. How can I find out where mail is supposed to go after it gets here? I looked in /var/qmail/control

2. I stopped the processes, renamed (temporarily) my /var/qmail/queue/remote directory, sent a few test msgs, then renamed the directory back. No the queue no longer shows the 2500 unsent messages!
How do I get this back on track?
thanks!
Denis
