I got a qmail + q-s + clamav system running pretty fine now. During installation I came across the following issue:
q-s was installed using credentials of user qscand - as default.
clamav, using clamdscan daemon, was installed using credentials of user clamd - as default.
At first, my system was not able to scan files and I was seen in qmail logs the output of: qq temporary failure.
Then, I switched clamdscan to use qscand credential. It failed again to scan showing same error.
Then, I switched both q-s and clamdscan to use qmaild:nofiles credentials and everything went ok.
I intend not to touch my box now, because it is running pretty fine, but what the hell went wrong?
Why q-s uses qscand credentials by default anyway if I only can get it to work using qmaild rights?
Any input/comment will be much appreciated.
Qmail-scanner should be running as qscand. Clamav should be changed to run as this user as well. If both programs were running as qscand and you were still having problems, then there are other issues with the install. What are the permissions of your /var/spool/qmailscan directory?
