I would get the same error intermittently. I upgraded to the .80rc3 of Clamav and up'd my softlimit to 40mb. This seemed to work...for awhile. And then the problems started back up again yesterday. I am not sure why, nothing on the server changed yesterday. Sorry I can't be more help, I still haven't figured out exactly why I am getting the error either, but maybe just up'ing your softlimit will help you.
