Messages from qmail-scanner are written to syslog not to messages.
Depending on your distro (redhat in this case i believe) syslog is /var/log/messages so he is correct.
Pardon the reply to myself but i just realized that i meant to type /var/log/maillog, not /var/log/messages. Redhat has no /var/log/syslog.
