Hallo List,
This is my first question here, so sorry if it has been asked a million times before. I have tried to browse the archives and tried a few things, but nothing seems to work...
This is the problem.
I installed clamav 0.75 from the beginning but never actually used it. Now I find that if I, in the /usr/local/etc/clamav.conf comment the line
# Comment or remove the line below. Example
to 'start' using clam, i get the following error when trying to send.
451 qq temporary error
In the /var/log/qmail/smtpd/current log file I have these kind of errors:
X-Qmail-Scanner-1.21:[ml10922148664705167] clamscan: corrupt or unknown ClamAV scanner error or memory/resource/perms problem - exit status 50
I read somewhere that perhaps I should increase the softlimit in /var/qmail/control/qmail-smtpd/run file, but it is already set to 15000000.
try more softlimit. I found I needed 20000000-22000000 on my system BUT-
Much better yet, use clamd - MUCH faster and moves clam scanning to sep proc space not affecting softlimit for QS. Easy instructions at:
http://www.clamav.net/doc/0.70/clamd_supervised/clamd-daemontools-guide.txt (thanks Jesse) The only "problem" I had following above was: ERROR: Can't save PID in file /var/run/clamd.pid perm issue, easily fixed and- configure your freshclam with --daemon-notify option
