What exactly is supposed to be in the "defaultdomain" file?  It was auto-generated by Plesk (v6.0.2), so I just always assumed it was right.

 

I don't know Plesk. you can try to write in that file the domain part of the file "me", this is used only for unqualified outgoing mails.

So, you might check the file: /var/qmail/control/defaultdomain

Is it empty?

You can use the command /var/qmail/bin/qmail-showctl to display all the control files.
