Also got some of these pw-protected rar files tonight:
there is a pretty standard "unrar" available for unixes:
http://freshmeat.net/projects/unrar/ , which could 
probably be used...  (works at least under linux and mac os x)

Usage:     unrar <command> -<switch 1> -<switch N> <archive> <files...>
