There seems to have been a lot of discussion on this topic.

It would be great if qmail-scanner would support clamav if clamav is installed using the rpms.

I would understand making a few changes in the clamav config file

There is a great amount of effort required to get qmail-scanner using clamav probably due to the changes in qmail-scanner running under a set user:group id.

I'm not a programmer but both of these tools are excellent and complement each other well, the biggest drawback is the effort to get them working together.

Well at least for a crapy administrator like myself.

Any pointers or ideas on how to make them work together more easily would be great.

I found

http://clamav.elektrapro.com/doc/clamd_supervised/clamd-daemontools-guide.txt

which is good but quite complex and is around FreeBSD and manual install of clamav

A guide for RedHat & RPM install of clamav would be great. Failing that I'll get a test machine together and write a guide.

Robert
